Over 100 Volunteers have been trained for the Slough winter night shelter

Training 25.01.14Over 100 people have now been through Housing Justice volunteer training and induction in preparation for the Slough winter night shelter project. All the major faith groups and many secular organisations in Slough have been very supportive of the initiative. There are currently over 40 rough sleepers in Slough , the problem is at it’s worst in over 30 years. The reasons are complex but the people of Slough have come together to take action. Over 10 venues in and around Slough will be used on a rota basis with a different location used each night to feed and provide shelter for rough sleepers who have been referred by Slough Homeless our concern (SHOC). The London and Slough run are sourcing volunteers , training them and funding security, transport and materials for the project. The Initiative will run from the 27th of January to the 9th of March. If you would like to volunteer or obtain more information then please email admin@sloughwinternightshelter.org .
