Slough Homeless Our Concern (SHOC) and the London and Slough run (LASR) are combining resources to help set up a desperately needed winter night shelter in Slough, based on the Wycombe homeless connection seven Churches model. The number of rough sleepers in Slough has risen dramatically in recent months and is currently at least 33. The initiative will involve faith groups from in and around Slough, providing venues, volunteers and funding for the duration of the project. Housing Justice will be the accrediting body for the scheme and LASR have subscribed to their winter night shelter franchise. It is hoped that the scheme will be ready to start in January and will cease at the end of March.
A meeting will be held at The Centre, Farnham rd,Slough, SL1 4UT on Friday the 13th of December at 10:30am. There will be speakers from SHOC, LASR, Housing Justice and Wycombe Homeless connection in attendance. The meeting will introduce the groups involved , expand on our plans and then open the floor to questions. Come join us and be part of this new project.
